Company History

Boozer Laminated Beam Company is a continuation of a family business committed to quality forest products for over 50 years. Our company was founded by brothers Elbert and Hinton Boozer in the late 1930's. It began as a lumber brokerage firm and around the start of World War II, moved into the lumber manufacturing business by producing bridge timbers for the U.S. Government.

In 1958, former President and C.E.O. William R. Owsley, Jr. married the daughter of Hinton Boozer and joined the company. A few years later, after having read a magazine article about glulam beams, he made the first BoozerBeam™; and the rest, as they say, is history.

Since then, Boozer Laminated Beam Company has become a leader in the "stock beam" market in the Southeastern United States. We have built a loyal following of lumber dealers and home builders who will use nothing else but a BoozerBeam™.  We believe this to be due to our company's lasting commitment to excellence in quality, service and support.

In 1981, current President and C.E.O. Bud Owsley followed his father into the family business and began to carve his niche. By 1987 the company had become an active member of The American Institute of Timber Construction (He was elected President of AITC in April 1996) and had started to develop what is now the most sophisticated computer system in the glulam industry. Some of the benefits of the computerization we offer our customers are our QuickQuote™ and CompuFax™ systems. They allow us to process your inquiries for BoozerBeams™ and send a quote directly from our computer screen to your FAX machine in a matter of minutes.

From the very beginning, we have placed great emphasis on building "team"-type business relationships with our customers and suppliers. We feel that just as one hand washes the other, our combined effort in marketing the products we sell will produce greater success than by "going it alone".
