The first idea concerning the church originated from the ladies
who played bridge in the Club. They felt bad about not being
at church, but they wanted to stay at the Club. Mrs. Truett
(Elizabeth) Smith was the motivator behind the church project.
Frierson Manning took over the idea and the church was started
in the picnic area.
Today’s church has recently been updated with weatherproof
pews donated by members and dedicated to their loved ones. The
bell rings at 10:00 a.m. to gather all churchgoers together
before the service starts at 10:30 a.m. The church services
run from Memorial Day each year through to the end of September.
A highlight of the church’s season is “Gospel Singing
Sunday” held on the closest weekend to the fourth of July.
